International
Visitor Program
The
United States Embassy has a technical and cultural exchange
program with other countries. The Horus Institute was honoured
with an indication to take part in the program in 2003,
which gave us an opportunity to visit many institutions
working with alien invasive species in the US. Three weeks
travelling took us to Washington DC, Washington state, California,
Hawaii and Florida.
Among the organizations visited are Ashoka Social Entrepreneurs,
The Nature Conservancy, the National Invasive Species Council,
the World Bank, the National Park Service, the University
of California in Davis, the Maui Committee on Invasive Alien
Species and the Florida
University.
The
trip was also precious in terms of gathering materials and
books on biological invasions. Most of all, it greatly enhanced
our vision and international contacts.
